Effect of Lookism in South Korea

After graduation from my Bachelor studying in Japan, I moved back to South Korea right away. While I was in South Korea, I saw most of my friends struggle with the job application process. Notably, working on their resume was a major obstacle for them. One day as I passed through the city centre, I saw so many photo studios that specialise in resume photography. At that moment, numerous thoughts passed through my mind. How does lookism affect South Koreans and how did we get here? How does it manifest? What's the underlying cause behind the social pressure on our appearance?
